It took three seperate visits to finally capture the glowing light at House on Fire in Bears Ears National Monument. House on Fire, an Ancestral Pueblo historic site tucked into a small alcove on Comb Ridge, is just one of many ancient sites in the monument. When sunlight reflects from the walls across the canyon onto the wall above the ruin, it looks as though flames leap from the roof — an effect most dramatic in late morning on a cloudless day. The rooms below the “flames” were probably granaries used to store corn.
